Saudi Arabia’s security forces have fired rockets into the country’s southern port city of Jizan in response to Houthi advances, officials said on Friday.
“We have fired several rockets into Jizana,” a local official told AFP news agency.
“They are not a threat to us, but we cannot control them,” he added.
Houthi forces took control of Juzan in mid-February after launching a series of attacks against Saudi forces and other civilian targets.
The Houthis had earlier launched an offensive on Jizann that targeted the Saudi-led coalition that is supporting the Saudi government.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been backing the Saudi and Yemeni governments since the Saudi civil war began in 2015, which has left hundreds of thousands of people dead and displaced more than 9 million.
